Out of this world: the first commercial has been released, alongside pricing for the new immersive hotel experience at Walt Disney World Resort
More details have been revealed of Disney’s two-night, all-immersive adventure on the ‘Halcyon Starcruiser’, a hotel docked next to the Galaxy’s Edge themed land at Walt Disney World Resort, Florida.
The release of the new 30-second commercial follows on from Disney Imagineers giving insights into the new experience.
The commercial shows a family settling into their cabin when the father declares they’ve been recruited by the resistance and have to save the galaxy.
Cabin rates will vary according to dates and type of cabin with a standard cabin for two guests costing from $1,209 per person per night (for stays from August 20 2022 to September 17 2022). This drops to $749 per guest based on four sharing a standard cabin. The total costs for four guests (three adults, one child) would be $5,999.
Cabins include a queen-sized bed, two bunk bed berths and a wall pull-down bed. Each cabin features a ‘window into space’ where guests can view ships passing by and other galactic sights.
Inclusive package – with extras
Alongside accommodation, each two-night stay includes all food and beverages on the Starcruiser (with the exception of alcoholic and specialty drinks) plus a quick-service meal at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo (or other named locations at Hollywood Studios). The Crown of Corellia Dining Room offers breakfast and lunch to passengers before being transformed for evening dinner settings. On the first night it becomes a table-service supper club with Disney promising, “a special musical appearance by a galactic superstar.”
On the second night the dining room will offer The Taste Around the Galaxy, with food inspired by the destination planets through the galaxy. Guests can choose to sit at the captain’s table for an additional fee.
All entertainment is included during the experience as is admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and valet parking. Each guest will receive an exclusive Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser MagicBand.
Sample itinerary with surprises
Disney has given an example of the basic itinerary a guest can expect. This includes orientation of the ship, a reception with the captain, and light saber training. A droid racing competition, model ship building and a trip to Batuu at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge are also included.
Disney has called the experience “interactive immersive theatre that unfolds throughout your journey”, explaining that “unexpected story moments will pop up with characters and special invitations that move your story forward in exciting new directions. Some story moments are called out in the sample itinerary, while others will develop from onboard activities that don’t always go exactly as planned.”
