Disneyland Resort has revealed plans to reimagine Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel as a Pixar-themed destination. The resort is also investing in its Downtown Disney District.
Pixar worlds and characters will feature in artwork and decor at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. For example, the Pixar lamp and ball will appear in the lobby.
In addition, a new walkway that will give guests of the Paradise Pier Hotel a convenient entrance to Disney California Adventure is currently under construction.
Disneyland is also investing heavily in the Downtown Disney District, which will offer more shopping, dining and entertainment experiences, including the Din Tai Fung restaurant.
The area at the far western end of the district, near the Disneyland Hotel, is being refreshed. Inspired by the Southern California region, it will become a colourful space with a new open lawn.
New experiences at Downtown Disney District

As previously revealed, Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland will reopen with new experiences in early 2023. Disneyland has broken ground on the reimagined land.
Mickey’s Toontown will be home to Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Disney’s first ride-through attraction featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Gadget’s Go Coaster, Goofy’s House and Donald’s Boat are being updated. The land’s new additions include CenTOONial Park, a natural space anchored by two interactive play experiences.
“The newly reimagined Mickey’s Toontown will be a welcoming place where families and younger guests can connect and play together in fun new ways,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney parks, experiences and products, at IAAPA Expo 2021.
ILMxLAB and Meta Quest recently previewed the Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge virtual reality (VR) experience at the Downtown Disney District.
The Meta Quest 2 preview is now available at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida through July 21.
