Ireland’s Emerald Park is reopening for the 2023 season this weekend (25 March) for the first time since rebranding and dropping the Tayto Park name.

The theme park in County Meath is now named after the country’s ‘Emerald Isle’ nickname as Tayto’s sponsorship ended in 2022.

Tayto Park’s founder Raymond Coyle, who died in June, said the partnership has “helped to create one of Ireland’s most popular tourist attractions”.

“I am delighted to have aligned with one of the most iconic Irish brands, so successfully, for over a decade,” Coyle said.

“We have decided that in order to expand and meet our ambitious targets for the park, now is the opportune time to rename the park to better reflect the exciting rides, attractions and zoo that are coming over the next few years.”

The rebranded park will reopen with two new attractions for children – Balloon Chase and Crazy Bus. The former is a hot-air balloon-style ride, and the latter a school bus-themed attraction.

Emerald Park’s zoo has also welcomed some new animals, including a group of squirrel monkeys, an endangered Amur tiger, and a critically endangered Amur leopard.

Additionally, two new Ben & Jerry’s units are opening as part of Emerald Park‘s new partnership with Unilever.

“We are excited to reopen the park for the 2023 season and welcome guests new and old to Emerald Park to enjoy everything that the park has to offer throughout the 50 acres of fun,” said Charles Coyle, Emerald Park’s general manager.

“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to upgrade the park and we hope that everyone who comes through our doors will enjoy treasured moments big and small in the park.”

Last year, Emerald Park broke ground on two new steel roller coasters with a budget of €30 million. Tayto Park’s new dinosaur-themed coaster for kids, called Dino Dash, opened in April.
