Wreaths Across America aims to break ground in 2023 and open the first phase on 4 July 2026.

Wreaths Across America plans to build a $1 billion patriotic theme park in Maine featuring the world’s tallest flagpole at 1,461 feet tall with an American flag larger than a football field.

“Everyone feels the division we’re all experiencing right now,” Rob Worcester, managing director of the Flagpole of Freedom Park, told Fox News Digital.

“We hope this creates an opportunity for Americans to come together.”

According to a blog post, Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit organisation founded by a family of wreath makers from Maine “who have dedicated our lives to advancing patriotism and honoring veterans”.

The nonprofit aims to break ground on the destination in Columbia Falls in 2023 and open the first phase of the park on 4 July 2026, the 250th anniversary of the US.

Attractions include an observation deck at the top of the flagpole, as well as ‘Remembrance Walls’ honouring the 24 million deceased Americans who have served in the military over the last 250 years.

Also on offer would be the ‘Halls of History’ museum, and an entertainment hub called ‘the Village of Old Glory’. This would be home to restaurants, hotels, museums, shops and a 4,000-seat venue for live events.

“By now, you may have heard of our plans to build Flagpole of Freedom Park, a destination that we think will become the most patriotic place in the country,” the blog post says.

“The sheer size and magnitude of the project is not to earn boastful bragging rights, but instead to stand as a great symbol of gratitude to our American veterans, past and present, for their service and sacrifice.”

“People need to understand that the flag represents all Americans, every single one of us,” project spokesperson Vann Morris, a U.S. Navy combat veteran, told Fox News Digital.

“It’s not a political statement. It’s a symbol of unity. It’s about healing America.”
