Genting SkyWorlds, an $800m outdoor theme park at Resorts World Genting (RWG), is set to open to the public on February 8, with ticket sales going live on February 4.

“Wait no more,” Resorts World Genting wrote on Twitter. “Southeast Asia’s most anticipated theme park will be opening on 8 February 2022! Ticket sales go live via Genting SkyWorlds website (link in bio) and mobile app on 4 Feb 2022.”

Genting Malaysia’s head of business operations and strategies, Lee Thiam Kit, said the attraction will “contribute to the tourism sector and the economy with the creation of over a thousand jobs” (via Malay Mail).

Visitors to Genting SkyWorlds will be encouraged to download a mobile app, available on the App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery. The app will provide real-time information and planning tools.

Additionally, users will be able to check wait times for rides, attractions and shows. They will also receive promotional offers and discount vouchers, and will be able to join virtual queues.

“Opening a theme park during the pandemic has been a challenge, and whilst every effort has been made to ensure our full offerings are available, a small selection of attractions require a little more time to be completed, something the team is working hard to achieve,” said RWG’s VP and head of theme park operations, Greg Pearn.

Last week, Genting Malaysia confirmed that “preparations are underway” for the launch. The company reportedly planned to open Genting SkyWorlds by the end of 2021 after starting technical rehearsals in November.

Genting SkyWorlds will be home to 26 rides and attractions, spread across 26 acres in Malaysia’s Genting Highlands. There will be nine themed lands based on original intellectual property (IP) and 20th Century Studios brands.
