Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides, has announced the opening of its latest roller coaster in Virginia, US.
Pantheon is this season’s main addition for Busch Gardens Williamsburg, a park operated by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. The ride officially opened on 25 March 2022, claiming the record as the world’s fastest multi-LSM Launch roller coaster to date.
The coaster utilises Intamin’s most powerful Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) system, propelling guests to a height of 55 meters (180 feet), with a track length of over a kilometre (3,280 feet).
Power of the gods
The legendary Roman gods are integrated into Pantheon through subtle references that are experienced in the ride journey, shown through strength, speed and power. The five gods referenced are Jupiter, Minerva, Mercury, Neptune and Pluto, with each representing a separate aspect of the ride.
Pluto represents the two inversions, Minerva the launches and boosts, Mercury represents speed, Neptune height, and Jupiter conveys the drop.
As one of the park’s fastest rides, Pantheon has a top speed of approximately 117 kilometres per hour (73mph) which is approached following an adrenaline-pumping 95° vertical drop.
Powering the ride are four breathtaking launches, three forwards and one backwards. The circuit delivers a unique combination of five airtime hills, two inversions and fastly-navigated turns.
The ride features two themed trains of twenty seats each. The ergonomically designed seats feature an over-the-shoulder lap bar to ensure freedom and comfort for guests, whilst satisfying the highest safety standards for riders.
A representative for the ride manufacturer says: “This coaster can be described as a coaster enthusiast’s dream, creating an unforgettable ride experience. Intamin is proud of having contributed to the success of Busch Gardens Williamsburg and would like to thank the entire team for the outstanding cooperation.”
Intamin has also recently announced the installation of The Storm Coaster, a first of its kind indoor rollercoaster which was revealed by operators Emaar Entertainment in Dubai last month.
