Guests will be transported from shopping mall to the eye of the storm in a thrilling experience

Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides, has announced the installation of a first of its kind indoor rollercoaster which was revealed by operators Emaar Entertainment on 17 February 2022.

Located at the UAE’s new Dubai Hills Mall, the installation utilises Intamin’s most powerful LSM drive system to propel guests at speeds of up to 77 kilometres per hour.

Integrated directly into the building’s structure, the new construction has been developed to push the boundaries of engineering planning and design. The unique experience is designed to immerse guests in the perilous and exciting world of storm chasing, in a completely safe environment.

Thrill-seekers’ delight

The landmark feature of the action-packed coaster is a fifty meter-tall vertical launch, shooting riders towards the ceiling of the shopping centre.

The track’s course delivers an array of airtime experiences, speed changes, unexpected accelerations and a particularly steep drop throughout its 670 meters length.

The Storm Coaster wraps around the entire building’s shell, with a layout that the ride manufacturer says “will surely delight all thrill-seekers”.

Safe and sound

Three themed state-of-the-art trains are commissioned to run around the track, each with twelve ergonomically shaped seats.

The integrated over-the-shoulder-lap-bar restraints balance maximum freedom and comfort with the highest possible safety for passengers.

A spokesperson from Intamin adds the company “is proud of having contributed to the success of Dubai Hills Mall and would like to thank Emaar Entertainment and the entire team for the outstanding cooperation”.

The Storm Coaster is one of a number of new rollercoasters to open in the past few months, with other installations in Australia and China also now open to guests.

Dubai also saw the opening this week of The Museum of the Future, which has been described by vice president and prime minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as “the most beautiful building on earth”.
