Lionsgate revealed that the Lionsgate Zone at Motiongate Dubai is expanding with two new roller coasters inspired by John Wick and Now You See Me, launching in early 2021.

The Lionsgate Zone will include the world’s first theme park ride inspired by John Wick, as well as the world’s fastest single-car spinning coaster based on the twists and turns of Now You See Me.

“This exciting expansion makes the Lionsgate Zone at Motiongate Dubai the epicenter of immersive blockbuster thrills in the region,” said Lionsgate EVP and head of global LBE, Jenefer Brown.

“For the first time ever, it will offer fans the opportunity to experience the poetic action of John Wick and masterful misdirection of Now You See Me through exhilarating coaster experiences.”

John Wick: Open Contract is a 4D free spin coaster and will be set over a 310-metre track. It will reach speeds of up to 64km per hour and deliver up to 2.8 G-force.

Visitors will step inside The Continental before embarking on a journey that simulates the action of John Wick, as the coaster races down a 4D track that offers forward and backward freestyle spins.

Now You See Me: High Roller will boast drops, non-inverted loops, and Immelmann turn sections, with riders making a full 180-degree turn after entering a half-loop section of the track, followed by a half twist.

Riders will reach speeds of up to 70km per hour as they race to expose the antics of a criminal mastermind during an intense coaster experience.

“We’re starting 2021 with a bang and offering our guests never before experienced attractions,” said Denis Pascal, general manager at Motiongate Dubai.

“We’re continually looking at ways to enhance the Motiongate Dubai experience and we cannot wait to break some world records with these two brand new coasters.

“They will not disappoint even the most daring amongst us.”

FORREC was the creative designer partners with DXB and Lionsgate for both of the upcoming attractions.

During the first ever blooloop V-Expo, Lionsgate revealed plans to develop exhibitions, experiences and live events based on The New York Times Magazine’s 1619 Project.
