Malaysia’s long-awaited Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) has confirmed that it will open in the second quarter of 2017.
Chief Executive of Perak State Development Corporation, Datuk Aminudduin Md Desa, said MAPS was moving towards completion, reports The Sun Daily.
He also announced that the park will undergo rigorous safety testing to ensure it meets international safety standards.
MAPS will feature 40 attractions in six zones. One is themed on DreamWorks characters Mr Peabody & Sherman, Megamind, The Croods & Casper The Friendly Ghost. Another features the Smurfs. Boboboi also has his own land. Other zones include Stunt Legends and the Megamind Megadrop, Malaysia’s tallest drop tower.
Individual attractions include 15 fun and thrill rides, 23 interactive attractions and five international shows and entertainments.
The theme park occupies a 21 hectare site in Ipoh, Perak and is being built at a cost of RM520 million.
