Martin & Vleminckx, a leader in the design, manufacture, fabrication, and installation of traditional wooden roller coasters, is reflecting on a successful partnership with La Ronde, a Six Flags amusement park based in Montreal, Canada, where it has installed most of the major attractions.
La Ronde is located in the same city as Martin & Vleminckx, and the fact that the company is a local and experienced ride installation provider was a key factor in winning these installation projects.
A successful partnership
It all began in 1981 when company founders, Ghislain Martin and Alain Vleminckx installed their very first project, the Super Manège at La Ronde. This attraction was a 2,398.3 ft Vekoma steel coaster that reached top speeds of 40 mph.
Following this, Martin & Vleminckx worked on its second project with La Ronde in 1984, when the firm installed Le Monstre, a double-track wood coaster. Le Monstre is the tallest two-track wooden roller coaster in the world, with a length of around 4,000 ft and top speeds of 59 mph.
In total, Martin & Vleminckx has worked on 15 attraction projects of different sizes at this popular Canadian theme park. It has installed rides from a number of multiple major manufacturers, including five rides from Vekoma, two from B&M, one from Intamin, one from Chance & Morgan, four from Zamperla, one from Ride Entertainment and one wood coaster.
Last year, the company manufactured and delivered its newest family thrill wooden rollercoaster, Leviathan, at Sea World Gold Coast in Australia. This is the first wooden coaster in the world to include four crossover sections and the theming is designed to represent a sea creature rising from the depths of New Atlantis. It has a top speed of 85km/h, a height of more than 32 metres, and a total length of about a kilometre of wooden track.
