Miral has announced that SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will open in 2023. The new next-generation marine life park on Yas Island is 90 percent complete, with building work set to finish in late 2022.
SeaWorld Abu Dhabi has a total area of approximately 183,000 square metres. The park’s themed visitor environments, habitats, rides and attractions are in the final stages of construction.
Marc Swanson, CEO of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, described it as an “extraordinary SeaWorld experience for guests with our first marine life theme park in over 30 years and our first outside the USA”.
The destination features various immersive experiences and interactive exhibits. The ‘One Ocean’ realm links six marine environments throughout the park. Guests will enjoy a 360-degree media experience.
Next-gen marine life park 90% complete
Mohammed Abdalla Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral, said SeaWorld Abu Dhabi “is an important and transformational addition to Yas Island’s immersive experiences”.
The attraction’s animal residents will live in environments that replicate their natural habitats. The park will contain more than 58 million litres of water.
It will be home to more than 150 species of marine animals, including sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. It will also house hundreds of birds, including penguins, puffins and flamingos.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Miral, said SeaWorld Abu Dhabi “signifies the start of a new chapter in regional and global marine life knowledge, conservation, and sustainability”.
New attraction for Yas Island
The park will “help position Abu Dhabi as a global tourism hub and contribute to its economic growth and diversification vision”.
SeaWorld Abu Dhabi includes the first dedicated marine research, rescue, rehabilitation and return centre in the UAE. The facility will open this year. It will be led by world-class marine scientists, veterinarians, animal care professionals and rescue experts.
Scott Ross, chairman of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, said the company will “extend our global conservation network and mission to protect marine animals and their habitats in the sea and gulfs surrounding the UAE”.
“We look forward to celebrating the UAE’s history and deep-rooted connection to the ocean through the many incredible and immersive experiences at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi,” he added.
