Ice Breaker features four launches leading up to a reverse launch into Florida’s steepest beyond vertical drop.

SeaWorld Orlando has revealed the opening date of its new roller coaster, Ice Breaker, with riders able to experience the steepest beyond vertical drop in Florida from February 18.

Ice Breaker was originally scheduled to launch in 2020 but has faced a series of delays. “Ice Breaker is anything but chill,” said SeaWorld Orlando in a tweet announcing the opening date.

Ice Breaker features four launches, both backwards and forwards, before culminating in a reverse launch into Florida’s steepest beyond vertical drop – a 93-feet-tall spike with 100-degree angle.

Located across from the Wild Arctic attraction, Ice Breaker thrill seekers will also fly over a near vertical top hat manoeuvre into a series of twists, turns and airtime hills.

Last year, SeaWorld Orlando park president Kyle Miller described the new coaster as a “one-of-a-kind thrill ride which complements our existing exhilarating ride portfolio perfectly”.

“We recognize there was a lot of anticipation and excitement for this new ride, and then due to the unprecedented challenges of the last two years, the opening was delayed,” he added.

This year, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment is launching 11 rides and attractions across 10 parks, the largest number of new offerings to be introduced in a single year in the company’s history.

“We have an ambitious goal of creating something new and meaningful in every one of our parks,” Marc Swanson, CEO of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, said in November.

“These new rides and attractions are part of that commitment and as we look ahead to 2022, we have what we believe is our most significant and exciting lineup of new rides, attractions, events and upgrades in our history.”
