Sunkid, a leading provider of attractions for the whole family, has reflected on a mountain coaster installation found in the natural landscape near Vancouver, Canada.
Cypress Mountain is the new home of Eagle Coaster, a new local attraction for Vancouver residents and international guests on holiday near the city. Its 1.7km long monorail-style track has a high capacity with seventy blue toboggans on the circuit helping to keep queues to a minimum.
Guests can board Cypress Mountain’s Eagle Express Quad chairlift which transports them to Black Mountain’s peak where the Eagle Coaster begins.
Rider-controlled experience
Eagle Coaster’s route speeds riders through the mountain’s forest, alongside its various skiing slopes, sharing the many waves, jumps, and great vantage point during its 279-metre descent.
The ride’s speed, which can hit up to 40 kilometres per hour, can be individually regulated by riders with a hand brake for maximum enjoyment, enhanced by the rail’s immediacy to the ground, especially on its sweeping turns. One notable panoramic curve has been designed to reward guests with a stunning view over Vancouver.
Variety of activities
As a sports venue during the 2020 Olympic Winter Games, Cypress Mountain has previously hosted a number of international champions in the fields of freestyle skiing and snowboarding.
Cypress Mountain still serves as a popular skiing destination in the winter months, meaning that some elements of the route have to be removed for the off-season. The route however is easy to re-assemble and is designed to be set up again by mountain railway employees with no issues when the summer season starts. Those who prefer to not participate in winter sports can enjoy the ample opportunities for hiking and geocaching provided by the area’s terrain.
Cypress Mountain president and general manager Russell Chamberlain says: “We are very happy about the initial feedback and our guests’ enthusiasm. Of course, we are delighted that the Eagle Coaster is attracting such a broad range of guests.”
Sunkid recently installed Traumland-Kran, a crane-themed interactive tower, at Traumland auf der Bärenhöhle near Stuttgart, Germany.
