The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), a non-profit representing compelling places and experiences worldwide, has revealed another guest for its upcoming TEA Summit in California, US.
With the travel and tourism industries seeing a period of unprecedented uncertainty over the past two years, the TEA will look to investigate the “why” questions that surround the global industry.
The bigger question
Sector organisations are actively looking to recoup lost revenues and chasing attendance figures, however, different perspectives could be considered. An association representative says; “When we start to inherently understand why we do what we do, and what drives us to those decisions, the “how” and “what” can become much more defined. Why do you do what you do? What’s your purpose or cause?”
The majority of individuals and organisations can explain what they do whilst a smaller proportion can confidently explain how they are different or better than their competitors. The TEA however says very few can clearly articulate why in meaningful terms.
This “why” is not necessarily quantifiable statistics such as the aforementioned revenues or profit, but the reason we are inspired and motivated to improve with each season in the industry.
A framework for success
Matt Dunsmoor, TEA’s day one keynote speaker, will begin the conversation with subjects from Simon Sinek’s global bestselling book, Start With Why, which will create the framework for the rest of the day’s sessions.
Leaders such as Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Wright Brothers used a proven method to think, act and communicate, which differentiated them from less-notable figures in history. Known as The Golden Circle, organisations can use this framework to expand, lead and inspire, starting with the one-word question of “why”.
Attendees can expect three key takeaways from the session;
- Understanding why what we do becomes more powerful when we know why we do it.
- Learn how the ‘why’ can act as a filter, giving us an alternative perspective on our organisations, our careers and our lives.
- Understanding the main reason human connections, based on trust and authenticity, are vital to organisations to succeed.
Buzz Price recipient Doris Hardoon will also be a speaker on the conference’s first day. Hardoon has a wealth of experience in the themed entertainment sector as an executive creative director and producer.
The event features JRA – part of RWS Entertainment Group – and Panasonic as gold sponsors of the summit. TEA 2022 Summit tickets are now available for purchase online.
The Themed Entertainment Association also recently announced details of its upcoming SATE event in Europe, which will be held at Liseberg in Sweden.
