The award-winning horror event is kicking off at Europa-Park on 30 September.

Traumatica is returning to Europa-Park. The ‘Festival of Fear’ is offering five new haunted houses – Wax Museum, Grim’s Funhouse, Skin Deep, Tarot House and Petting Zoo.

The award-winning horror experience is kicking off at the European theme park on 30 September and running through 12 November.

Guests will discover what’s lurking in the ‘Wax Museum’ and, as the name suggests, they are “cast in wax for all eternity”. In this haunted house, “terrifying faces grimace and grin from every corner”.

During ‘Tarot House’, guests will “look their fate in the eye, relentlessly experiencing whatever happiness or misfortune may life ahead”.

Clowns, wax figures and ‘cuddly creatures’

‘Skin Deep’ is described as a “macabre collection”, while the clowns in ‘Grim’s Funhouse “will literally have you die laughing”.

As for the ‘Petting Zoo’, Europa-Park said it’s “hard to believe how quickly the unusually lovable and cuddly creatures can transform”.

In addition, a show called ‘The Traumatica Circus: Dystopia’ takes place every night. This features motorcycle stunts, sword swallowing and acrobatics.

From 1 October to 6 November, the family-friendly Halloween season is on at Europa-Park. There will be more than 180,000 pumpkins, 15,000 chrysanthemums, 6,000 corn plants, 3,000 bales of straw and more than 100,000 autumn flowers.

Highlights include “ravenous vampires and dancing skeletons” in the Greece-themed area, and a menacing maze in Iceland. The France-themed area will be home to a Halloween village with a children’s labyrinth.

Earlier this year, Europa-Park CEO Michael Mack confirmed that the planning application for the park’s new roller coaster has been approved.

Mack said the council “has approved the building application for our new roller coaster in the upcoming Croatian themed area”. He said the ride “promises to be yet another spectacular highlight” for Europa-Park.

Elsewhere, Efteling has closed the ‘Spookslot’ haunted house, making room for a new eerie area anchored by a new indoor attraction called Danse Macabre.
