Universal Orlando Resort has updated its policy for face coverings, with fully vaccinated guests no longer required to wear face masks indoors or outdoors. Unvaccinated visitors are “encouraged” to wear masks.
“We are updating our policy for face coverings based on local trends and conditions,” Universal Orlando says on its website. “Fully vaccinated guests will no longer be required to wear face coverings indoors or outdoors effective, Saturday, February 12.”
“Guests who have not been vaccinated will be encouraged to wear face coverings while indoors,” Universal Orlando’s website adds. “Face coverings are optional for fully vaccinated guests.”
Visitors to Universal Orlando who have not been vaccinated are only encouraged to wear face coverings in indoor locations including restaurants and shops. “We do not require proof of vaccination,” the resort says.
Face masks still required at Disney World

In addition, staff at Universal Orlando Resort who are fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear a mask, according to Click Orlando.
Universal Orlando Resort brought back its indoor face mask policy just in time for Christmas, with face coverings required “at all indoor locations” from December 24 amid rising Covid-19 cases in the US.
Face masks are still required for all guests at Walt Disney World in all indoor locations “regardless of vaccination status”. Face coverings are optional for guests in outdoor areas.
Epic Universe, the fourth theme park at Universal Orlando Resort, is expected to open by summer 2025. Universal’s largest theme park in the US will feature lands and attractions based on DreamWorks and Illumination content, and a Super Nintendo World.
“Epic is full steam ahead,” said NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell. “I was down there a few weeks ago and the construction is going really well. We expect that park to open in 2025 and certainly in time for the summer of 2025.”
