Face coverings must be worn by guests and employees at all indoor locations across Universal Orlando Resort.

Universal Orlando Resort is bringing back its indoor face mask policy just in time for the holidays, with face coverings required “at all indoor locations” from Christmas Eve (December 24).

Face masks must be worn by guests and employees at all indoor locations across Universal Orlando, including restaurants, shops, attractions and public areas within hotels.

“The health and safety of our guests and team members is always our top priority,” said Universal Orlando Resort in a statement posted to its website.

“As a result, face coverings will now be required, effective Friday, December 24, 2021, at all public indoor locations within Universal Orlando Resort for both guests and team members regardless of vaccination status.”

The statement added: “Face coverings are also required at all attractions from the moment guests enter the queue to when they exit the experience.”

Rising Covid-19 cases in the US

Earlier this year, Universal Orlando relaxed its face mask policy, with face coverings “no longer required for fully vaccinated guests”. The latest update to its policy comes amid rising Covid-19 cases in the US.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has reduced visitor capacity in response to a statewide surge of Covid-19 cases. The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) has temporarily closed its galleries.

The New York City-based museum’s decision to limit capacity follows the closure of the Natural History Museum in London due to Covid-related “staff shortages”.

Meanwhile, Universal Orlando’s president Bill Davis is set to retire after 15 years, with Universal Studios Hollywood president Karen Irwin replacing him on January 1, 2022.
