As director of advocacy and communication at EAZA, Tomasz Rusek steers hundreds of zoos and aquariums around the world through government advocacy and communications.
“Where he really shines is at EAZA’s annual away days in Brussels, where his expertise and passion for EU politics really shows as he trains, coaxes and cajoles zoos and aquariums into lobbying the labyrinthian EU,” said one person who nominated Rusek.
“Above all, Tomasz is committed to talking things through, which demonstrates his belief that there is always a conversation to be had, and the minute we stop talking to each other we lose.
“Underscoring it all is his love of animals, whether it's megafauna like rhinos or orca, or nesting seabirds.”
