Family Attractions: New Year, new horrors at the Edinburgh Dungeon . . .

News

Burke and Hare: The Business of Murder opens February 13th 2010,   Scotland’s scariest attraction just got scarier!

Burke and Hare are back and open for business at the Edinburgh Dungeon this coming February as the city’s scariest attraction launches its most terrifying feature yet, Burke and Hare: the Business of Murder.

A dank graveyard awaits visitors to the Dungeon as they enter the damned territory of Scotland’s most infamous serial killers. Here petrified punters will be hurled into the horrendous tale of Burke and Hare’s dark deeds in the 1800s . . . and will encounter the enterprising gentlemen for themselves.

Grave digging may have been beneath the enterprising pair, but Burke and Hare were not shy of getting their hands dirty in other ways. Stealthily they smothered their victims and sold their corpses to Doctor Knox at Edinburgh Medical College for use in his anatomy lectures. Seventeen victims fell foul of murderous duo before greed got the better of them and the identifiable corpse of the young, lame James Wilson gave the game away, landing both Burke and Hare in custody and Burke with a hanging sentence.

The Edinburgh Dungeon’s Burke and Hare: the Business of Murder creaks open its doors 13th February this coming half term. For more information, please visit: www.thedungeons.com.
