Valo Motion, a pioneer in combining interactive technology with physical activities, is celebrating the opening of a new Total Ninja Interactive location in Johannesburg, bringing the ValoPark-inspired concept to South Africa.
After the success of the Dubai venue earlier this year, the Total Ninja Interactive brand has now expanded with an offering tailored for shopping malls, combining physical activities with immersive mixed reality games by Valo Motion.
The indoor entertainment park is situated inside Fourways Mall at Shop F12 (Upper Mall). It features six ValoJump air units, two ValoClimb units, and one ValoArena, all providing dynamic, high-energy, competitive social activities. Notably, this is the first venue in South Africa to showcase Valo Motion’s mixed reality attractions, marking a significant step forward for next-gen active entertainment in the region.
Total Ninja is a prominent name in active indoor entertainment, managing several large adventure parks in South Africa under its primary brand. Renowned for its fitness-oriented obstacle courses, the company has earned a solid reputation for developing environments where people can play and test themselves in a family-friendly atmosphere.
With Total Ninja Interactive, the brand advances in its development by combining its physical park origins with immersive mixed reality games. Following the opening of its first interactive park in Dubai, the team is now introducing that innovative tech-focused experience to Johannesburg.
Interactive fun
"We’re expecting South Africans to be blown away, because nothing like this exists here yet,” says Dorita Correia, COO of the Total Ninja Group.
“We saw a gap for experiences that speak to Gen Z and Alpha: active, social, and a real break from screens at home, and Total Ninja Interactive helps us deliver exactly that. Working with Valo Motion has made it possible to bring this vision to life. Their team brought their expertise and support throughout planning, installation, and daily operations.
"The attractions are straightforward to run, easy to maintain, and always engaging. We saw in Dubai how quickly the model worked. Now, I believe the same energy will light up Johannesburg.”
The indoor park in Johannesburg exemplifies a wider trend where indoor entertainment increasingly integrates with contemporary retail environments. As Gen Z and Alpha seek lively, social activities that align with the appeal of digital gaming, the popularity of attractions blending physical activity, competition, and technology continues to rise.
ValoPark meets demand for social, active attractions
Valo Motion developed ValoPark to meet that demand, combining active play, digital gaming, and streamlined operations into a compact format suitable for retail spaces. Functioning as a “Fun Court” in malls, it encourages families to stay longer and visit more frequently.
With its second ValoPark-inspired venue now open, Total Ninja Interactive demonstrates how the model can succeed across different markets, offering high repeat customer engagement, low operating costs, and a guest experience tailored for today’s digital-native audience.
"Last year we announced the Dubai venue during IAAPA Expo in Orlando, and now we’re seeing a second ValoPark-inspired park open in South Africa,” says Dr Raine Kajastila, CEO of Valo Motion.
“It’s great to see this solution working for operators who want to grow in premium retail locations. The idea was to make active indoor entertainment easy to run, scalable, and super fun for guests, and seeing it succeed across markets like this is incredibly rewarding.”
This summer, Valo Motion supplied and installed the 100th ValoArena, located at Andretti Indoor Karting and Games in Katy, Texas.
