Aquatic Development Group (ADG), a leading water park and recreational design, construction and manufacturing firm, is celebrating the opening of Aquasis at Duck Creek RV Resort in Michigan, US.
Roger Jourden and his wife Casey founded Duck Creek RV Resort in 2009. Since then, they have developed the resort extensively, and many new features were added in response to the rising demand for camping and outdoor activities following the outbreak of Coronavirus.
Duck Creek RV Park wanted to provide visitors with more options to enjoy aquatic activities on the site. It approached ADG earlier this year to design and develop a new facility, the Aquasis water park.
Ultimate camping destination
The new Aquasis water park was developed and built by ADG and its features are suitable for visitors of all ages. The indoor pool area, which has a retractable roof, play spaces, an activity pool, and extensive deck/lounge space, is one of the key distinguishing characteristics. ADG’s design for the expansion also included a 3,300-square-foot multi-level play structure with five water slides, a warming pool, and an outdoor adult relaxation spa.
The action river is another significant new feature. This 215-foot-long river twists and turns around the park, and visitors may go for an exciting ride on boogie boards or pool noodles. The resort also added 112 new full-hookup campsites, and new facilities with washrooms and laundry rooms.
Jourden says: “What we’ve seen is people are looking for experience-driven camping. Gone are the days for just campsites. Customers want resorts with amenities. That’s what we’ve created. We have restaurants on site, mini-golf courses. We’re trying to create the ultimate camping destination. Our draw is more of a regional draw than a local draw. We’re seeing guests from Indiana, Ohio, Iowa. It’s not a local camping experience. It’s a destination.”
Aquasis opened to visitors on the 4 July weekend.
Aquatic Development Group (ADG) has announced another opening this month, with the new expansion at Roaring Springs Water Park, Idaho – the biggest waterpark in the Northwest. ADG designed, manufactured and delivered the wave generation system and boosters for the 4,250-square-foot Class 5 Canyon. This is the first action river in Idaho which includes action waves that guests may ride on using kickboards.
