Gumbuya World in Victoria, Australia is expanding its waterpark, Oasis Springs.
As the second stage of its $50 million expansion begins, Oasis Springs will almost double in size.
It will feature Victoria’s most impressive family wave pool and six brand new waterslides – two monster twister slides and four lane rally race slides.
Currently, Oasis Springs is home to Typhoon Island, the Boomerango and Taipan water slides, a 300-metre Lazy River, heated rock pools, luxury cabanas, and Surf’s Up.
The expansion of the waterpark is part of a major, $50m, three-year redevelopment of Gumbuya World.
The park is made up of four worlds – Oasis Springs, as well as Oz Adventure, Outback Explorers, and Wildlife Trail.
Waterpark expansion
It will soon include 50 new attractions, as well as new accommodation, cafes, shops, a chocolate factory, and a microbrewery. Indigenous, dinosaur and woolshed precincts will also be constructed for educational programmes.
Business Director or Gumbuya World, Ron Weinzierl, said (via Australasian Leisure Management): “We’ve had our busiest summer thanks to the thousands of Victorians and tourists walking through our doors each day over the last two months.
“We received such strong support from the community and our customers since Gumbuya World re-opened in December 2017, and we want to say thank you to everyone who has visited over the last year. We’re looking forward to introducing an even bigger Oasis Springs in time for the Spring school holidays this year.”
It is anticipated that Gumbuya World will attract one million visitors each year by 2022. The redevelopment is set to boost both tourism and employment in the region.
The Australian theme park started out as a pheasant farm. It was converted into a wildlife park in 1978.
