Royal Caribbean has unveiled its latest ship, Icon of the Seas, which will feature the largest water park at sea and the tallest drop slide at sea.

Arriving in late 2023 ahead of its debut in January 2024, Icon of the Seas will sail all year, with each cruise visiting Royal Caribbean’s private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

“With each new ship, we raise the bar in the travel industry while enhancing what our guests know and love,” said Jason Liberty, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group.

“From the moment they step on board, every experience is specifically designed to give them the best vacation anywhere on land and at sea.

“With Icon of the Seas, we’ve taken this to a new level and made the ultimate family vacation.”

Located in the ‘Thrill Island’ neighbourhood is Category 6, the largest water park at sea with six record-breaking slides.

‘Pressure Drop’ is the cruise industry‘s first open free-fall slide, and ‘Frightening Bolt’ is the tallest drop slide at sea. ‘Storm Surge’ and ‘Hurricane Hunter’ are the first family raft slides at sea, while ‘Storm Chasers’ is the industry’s first mat-racing duo.

The ‘Chill Island’ neighbourhood features ‘Swim & Tonic’, the cruise line’s first swim-up bar at sea, and ‘Royal Bay Pool’, the largest pool at sea.

‘Surfside’ is a family-friendly neighbourhood, while ‘The Hideaway’ neighbourhood offers the first suspended infinity pool at sea. The ‘AquaDome’ neighbourhood boasts the ‘AquaTheater’ entertainment venue.

“Now more than ever, families and friends are prioritizing experiences where they can bond and enjoy their own adventures,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International.

“We set out to create a vacation that makes all that possible in one place for the thrill-seekers, the chill enthusiasts and everyone in between, without compromise.

“It’s this first-of-its-kind combination that makes Icon the future of family vacations, and that future is here.”

Additionally, Icon of the Seas is the cruise line’s most sustainable to date. It will be the first ship with fuel cell technology and will be powered by liquefied natural gas, the cleanest marine fuel.
