WhiteWater, a leading waterpark manufacturer, has announced that it was recognised with four Leading Edge Awards at the World Waterpark Association (WWA) Symposium and Trade Show 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada, US. Held by each year by the WWA, the international trade association serving waterparks and aquatic venues, the Leading Edge Awards recognise extraordinary projects from around the globe.
During this year’s event, WhiteWater was honoured for four of its recent projects, Water World Ocean Park Hong Kong, China; Aqua Nick at Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya, Mexico; Wild Rivers, US and Baha Bay at Baha Mar, The Bahamas
These projects were chosen because of their originality, creativity, and first-rate engineering, helping to provide memorable experiences for water park visitors.
The winning projects
WhiteWater is the major attractions supplier for Water World Ocean Park which sits on a tight footprint. Here, the firm provided four slide complexes as well as an AquaPlay unit, all designed and constructed to preserve the natural landscape while offering a wide variety of thrill levels.
In a first for the company, the geometry of the park’s new Boomerango Squeeze ride allows the Boomerango wall to be built mid-ride and then followed by another water slide feature, like a Constrictor.
The second award-winning project was Aqua Nick, which is the largest theming project that WhiteWater has created to date. Guests of all ages can enjoy a range of much-loved IPs, such as Sponge Bob, PAW Patrol and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, brought to life through 11 water slides, a RainFortress 5, AquaPlay 200, Splash Pad, and Lazy River.
Elsewhere, the firm also worked on the new Wild Rivers water park – the largest water park project in the Western US for the last ten years. The original park has been reimagined with a new ride mix, including seven complexes from WhiteWater, with body slides, inner tube rides, aquatic play, and two mega complexes, each with two 6-person family raft rides.
Visitors can experience the worldās first Master Blaster + Rattler fusion, Americaās first 6-person Python raft ride, and North Americaās first AquaSphere + Open Constrictor family raft ride.
Finally, WhiteWater was also recognised for FlowCurl at Baha Bay. The new wave, FlowCurl, fills the gap between the FlowRider stationary surf line and FlowBarrelāa favourite for experts, in order to satisfy a wide demographic appeal. Its straight flow section suits beginner flowboarders, and the more challenging curling section allows advanced guests to show off their skills.
There is also space for spectators, creating a focal point for entertainment and food and beverage.
Pushing boundaries
āThrough incredible collaboration between our teams, clients, and partners, weāre able to build impressive water parks that push boundariesāboth technically and creatively,ā says WhiteWater president, Paul Chutter. āEach of these parks brings guests experiences not to be found anywhere else in the world, with attractions that will soon be established icons.ā
