Imagine Leisure connects Flevoland to Floriade 2022

New project will encourage locals to engage with the event and its theme

Imagine Leisure Floriade 2022

Imagine Leisure, a leading leisure consultant and developer, has been commissioned by the province of Flevoland in the Netherlands to connect entrepreneurs, residents, students and visitors in Flevoland to Floriade 2022.

Floriade 2022 will take place in Almere from 13 April to 9 October 2022, with the theme of Growing Green Cities. The major international event is a celebration of horticulture and this year will also focus on sustainability and green technologies for urban life. This theme is a perfect fit for the province of Flevoland, known for being green and eco-friendly.

Increasing visibility

Imagine Leisure, together with Flevoland, has created a plan to connect residents with the event. Firstly, to increase the visibility of Floriade 2022 throughout the province, a process of city dressing will take place, ensuring that the fact that the Floriade Expo is taking place in Flevoland is clearly visible throughout the region. For instance, through flags, posters, landmarks and selfie spots.

In addition, local entrepreneurs are being encouraged to get involved, as they will benefit by attracting more visitors and generating extra turnover. To help with this, a designated account manager is being deployed, who will assist and encourage all tourist/recreational companies to organise special activities and set up packages, and to make the theme visible in the company, for example in restaurants, shops and museums.

Finally, local residents, including students, are also being encouraged to connect with Floriade 2022 and its theme, by sharing their stories about why the event fits with the character of Flevoland. They have been challenged to make their own garden, neighbourhood or city greener and more sustainable, applying the theme of Growing Green Cities at home.

The project runs from August 2021 until the end of Floriade 2022.

Last year, Imagine Leisure was asked by the province of Drenthe in the Netherlands to assist with its mission to become the country’s top leisure destination.
