Zoological and species information non-profit organisation Species360 has announced leading zoo and aquarium consultancy The zoOceanarium Group as a corporate sponsor.

Species360 maintains information about the animals and species in its 1,054 members’ collective care. Compiling and sharing data for over 40 years, this information includes 74 million medical records and 167 million husbandry records.
This deal significantly helps to reduce member fees for smaller zoos and aquarims that otherwise might not be able to afford membership. Last year 93 new members joined Species360. It has members in 90 countries.
Species360 and ZIMS
Funds from corporate sponsors are also used for new products. Examples are the recent ZIMS for Medical and next generation ZIMS for Aquatics. ZIMS is an integrated real-time database. It was developed to help manage husbandry, education, medical and other data in relation to members’ animals. There is also a specfiic ZIMS for aquarium members.

Sponsorship funds will also help in the translation of ZIMS into regional languages. These include Spanish, Russian, and most recently, Japanese.
The zoOceanarium Group operates and develops leading zoos, aquariums, safaris and nature-based science centers. The company’s services cover everything from initial concept design all the way through to managing daily operations.
The zoOceanarium Group has over 100 full time employees based across the world. These include veterinarians, design specialists, animal care specialists, animal trainers, project managers and operational staff.
