Zoological and species information non-profit organisationSpecies360 has announced leading zoo and aquarium consultancy The zoOceanarium Group as acorporate sponsor.

Species360 maintains information about the animals and species in its 1,054 members' collective care.Compiling and sharing data for over 40 years,this information includes 74 million medical records and 167 million husbandry records.

This dealsignificantly helps to reduce member fees for smallerzoos and aquarimsthat otherwise might not be able toafford membership. Last year93 new members joined Species360.It has members in 90 countries.

Species360 and ZIMS

Funds from corporate sponsors are also used for new products.Examples are the recent ZIMS for Medical and next generation ZIMS for Aquatics. ZIMS is an integrated real-time database. It was developed to help manage husbandry, education, medical and other datain relation to members' animals. There is also a specfiic ZIMS for aquarium members.

Sponsorship funds will alsohelp in the translation of ZIMS into regional languages. These includeSpanish, Russian, and most recently, Japanese.

ThezoOceanarium Group operates and develops leadingzoos, aquariums, safarisand nature-based science centers. The company'sservices cover everything from initialconcept design all the way through tomanaging daily operations.

The zoOceanarium Group hasover 100 full timeemployees based across the world.These include veterinarians,design specialists, animal care specialists, animal trainers, project managers and operational staff.

The company has developed its expertise working on major projects on nearly every continent of the world. Ithas offices in Singapore, Dubai andthe US.

Recently the company has worked withthe Dubai Aquarium on their Shark Week Exhibit, Al AinZoo and Dubai's Meraas Group on The GreenPlanet.

Paignton Zoo put on the market by owner, Wild Planet Trust

Paignton Zoo owner Wild Planet Trust has confirmed that the 85-acre zoo, home to more than 2,000 animals, is on the market alongside 18 acres of adjacent land.

Via ITV News, Wild Planet Trust said in a statement it has "started to explore the possibility of securing investment", although no guide price has been released.
