The Monterey Bay Aquarium in California is celebrating sea otters with the release of a new song titled 'Otter This World', performed by drag queen Monét X Change.
'Otter This World' features drag queen Trinity the Tuck as a special guest and is "a celebration of sea otters, healthy kelp forests, and the magic that comes to life when drag queens channel their ocean inspiration", the aquarium said.
"It’s also a beautiful reminder of the importance of community, pride, and the power of showing up as yourself. Because the ocean needs you, exactly as you are."
Lyrics for the new song, which includes lines such as "and they hairy like the otters in ya DMs, boo", were co-written by Monét X Change and Ocean Kelly.
For more than 40 years, the Monterey Bay Aquarium's sea otter conservation programme has been working with the vulnerable population of southern sea otters on the California coast.
Among its initiatives, the aquarium has pioneered a unique surrogate-mother programme with its resident otters, and partnered with wildlife agencies to rescue, release, and monitor sea otters and assist in population recovery.

Last year, the Monterey Bay Aquarium raised more than $2 million for sea otter conservation in just two days by selling a vintage sea otter T-shirt worn by Taylor Swift.
"Swifties, you truly walk the talk," the Monterey Bay Aquarium wrote on its website.
"The Taylor effect was in full force, putting the spotlight on this adorable keystone species and the aquarium's mission to inspire conservation of the ocean," it added.
