New ship will sail year-round in the Galápagos Islands and “elevate the guest experience to an entirely new level”

Disney and National Geographic Expeditions have announced a new addition to their fleet, the National Geographic Islander II. In partnership with Lindblad Expeditions, this will carry passengers on an adventure to the Galapagos Islands.

This new vessel can carry 48 passengers for year-round expeditions to the Archipelago in Ecuador, sailing with a 1:1 guest-to-crew ratio. It features a Science Hub and an observation deck. There are indoor and outdoor dining choices and 26 suites on board, while teak decks connect the outdoor and inner spaces.

The National Geographic Islander II is designed for active breaks. It offers a fleet of kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, as well as a custom-built glass bottom Zodiac and a flotilla of versatile Mark V Zodiacs, meaning that passengers can enjoy a holiday full of adventure and exploration.

The company also runs the National Geographic Global Explorers Program, in partnership with National Geographic Education. Through this interactive programme, young passengers on expedition cruises to Alaska, Antarctica, Baja California or the Galapagos Islands can embrace their inner explorer as they learn how to develop their skills and knowledge through a range of fun activities.

Inside National Geographic Islander II

“Lindblad Expeditions is thrilled to welcome the new, all-suite National Geographic Islander II to our fleet,” says a statement from Lindblad Expeditions. “Sleek and elegant, she will sail year-round in the Galápagos Islands and elevate the guest experience to an entirely new level.

“The new, all-suite National Geographic Islander II provides an authentic sense of place, drawing on our decades of partnering with local communities and conservation groups. Contributing to the fully immersive Ecuadorian experience on board are Ecuadorian staff and locally sourced and sustainable farm-to-table and ocean-to-table culinary ingredients, as well as artisan spa elements and handcrafted textiles, art, and décor all regionally created.”
