NORXE

High-performance projection technology for immersive attractions, planetariums and demanding visual environments

Overview:

Norwegian technology companyNORXE designs and manufactures specialist solid-state projectors for applications where image quality, reliability and long operating life are particularly important. Its technology is used across visitor attractions, immersive environments, planetariums, simulation and training, scientific visualisation and control rooms.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Fredrikstad, Norway, NORXE brings together expertise in optics, mechanics, electronics and software. Its projectors are built to order at the company's Norwegian manufacturing facility and designed for continuous 24/7 operation. The company focuses on compact, rugged projection platforms suited to installations where access for maintenance may be difficult or where consistency across multiple projectors is essential.

Projection for attractions and immersive experiences

For the attractions sector, NORXE's technology can support large-scale and multi-channel projection environments, including immersive experiences and stereoscopic 3D installations. Its P20 3DS system, for example, combines RGB laser illumination with Infitec colour-separation technology to create stereoscopic images while maintaining brightness and colour performance.

The company's wider projector range includes the P10, P20, P55 and P60 platforms, together with specialist lenses and optional accessories. Systems can be scaled from individual projectors to complex multi-projector environments, while high refresh rates and high-resolution options support applications involving fast-moving visual content.

NORXE has also developed Unify, an integrated control and monitoring platform designed to simplify the management of projection systems. This is particularly relevant to multi-channel environments, where maintaining consistent performance across numerous projectors can be an important operational consideration.

Planetariums and visualisation

NORXE projectors are also used for fulldome and planetarium applications. The company works with partners including Sky-Skan and has demonstrated its P60 4K technology in full-dome configurations with GOTO. Its wider partner network encompasses specialists in projection, simulation and visual systems, including VIOSO, Scalable Display Technologies, project:syntropy and Visuals Attraction.

One example from the cultural sector is Sharjah Science Museum's planetarium, where NORXE technology has been used as part of a projection installation delivered by Visuals Attraction. The company was also selected to provide projection technology for the Switzerland Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka.

Built for demanding environments

A significant part of NORXE's expertise comes from simulation and training, where visual systems may need to operate for long periods while maintaining precise image quality. Its partners span flight, automotive, maritime and defence simulation, including Ansible Motion, Cruden, Aero Simulation, Rheinmetall and RSi Visuals.

This experience informs the company's work in attractions and other immersive applications, particularly installations that require multi-projector synchronisation, high resolution, reliable 24/7 operation and reduced maintenance. NORXE's solid-state approach is designed to extend component life and reduce the need for servicing and recalibration over the lifetime of an installation.
