Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides, is celebrating the opening of Quantum Accelerator at Six Flags New England on 17 April.

The Intamin Family Launch Coaster, the park's first dual-launch straddle coaster, offers a family-friendly thrill experience with a wide range of exciting elements within its highly compact layout.

Packed layout

Beginning with its initial launch from the station, Quantum Accelerator eases visitors into the experience with an opening sequence featuring smooth twists and turns. This is followed by a second launch that uses Intamin’s proven friction wheel launch technology to propel riders to a maximum speed of 72 km/h (45 mph).

A 180 degree high-speed turnaround then brings the roller coaster to its maximum height of 19 metres (62 feet), saving space within the compact footprint with a steel-efficient structure over the station.

This is followed by a low-to-the-ground, high-speed section packed with unpredictable twists and turns, delivering a breadth of sensations suitable for riders of all ages.

Quantum Accelerator features a total of 11 airtimes moments within its 900-metre (2,952-foot) long layout.

New Family Launch Coaster aluminium-machined chassis

One of the next-generation Family Launch Coaster's major innovations is a new aluminium-machined train chassis, which draws on the experience and technology of Intamin’s renowned LSM Launch Coasters.

This weld-free design minimises maintenance requirements and makes non-destructive weld testing (NDT) unnecessary, improving long-term reliability.

The accessible train design integrates Intamin's Jet Ski straddle coaster model, with a walk-through platform behind the seats for loading. The seats and individual lap bars create an open straddle riding position, with a minimum height requirement of 1.2 metres (48 inches).

Riders can hold the handlebars, lean forward, and move through the layout using the bespoke 'hover bike' vehicles designed by Six Flags' creative teams.

Quantum Accelerator is designed to provide excitement and smiles for thrill-seekers and families alike.

Intamin thanks Six Flags New England and Six Flags Entertainment Corporation for their trust and collaboration over the past years in bringing Quantum Accelerator to life.

Earlier this year, Intamin marked the opening of Six Flags Qiddiya City, which features three signature Intamin attractions, including Falcons Flight, the tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster in the world.
