MAT Filtration Technologies, a manufacturer of high-efficiency water filtration equipment and provider of engineering services, has announced the opening of a new production facility in Umm Al Quwain, United Arab Emirates.
One of the company’s key milestones of the year, the investment reinforces its dedication to serving growing demand in the region through closer support, localised manufacturing, and quicker delivery solutions for projects across the Middle East.
The new 10,000-square-metre facility brings MAT's global production and operational capacity to over 30,000 square metres, and bolsters the company’s manufacturing capabilities for Life Support Systems (LSS).
Additionally, the facility will drive a more integrated and technologically advanced structure for global production, logistics, installation, and technical support.
Strategic expansion
With more than 200 team members, the new facility includes five main operational departments: administration, steel production, MEP works, GRP processing (including cutting, cladding, and lamination), acrylic cutting, mosaic application, pipe installation, and logistics.
It will focus predominantly on manufacturing FRP tanks, plunge pools, and acrylic viewing panels for swimming pools and public aquariums, as well as other specialised products.
This aims to increase the production capacity of Life Support System equipment while strengthening MAT’s footprint and responsiveness in the regional market.
The UAE was a strategic choice due to the growing demand for acrylic, aquariums, and water-related infrastructure projects across the region, says Nurettin Ersu, GCC General Manager:
"The investment was carefully evaluated.
"We have the ability to build anything made of GRP or PP. Being located close to the projects is of paramount importance. It creates tremendous advantages in logistics, cost savings, and transparency, as clients can visit the facility at any time for product inspections and quality control before shipment."
Local manufacturing fosters long-term client relationships and stronger partnerships throughout the project lifecycle, he adds, noting that producing equipment in the client’s region demonstrates commitment, accessibility, and respect for partners, thereby enhancing communication, efficiency, and delivery timelines.
In addition to fabrication, the services provided locally include the oversight of installation, testing, delivery, commissioning, and technical support. This ensures a complete, integrated process from manufacturing to on-site execution, with a single point of responsibility at every stage of the project.
Furthermore, the company will uphold the same strict quality standards already in place at its facilities in Turkey, while continuing to invest in research and development initiatives centred on sustainability, innovation, and long-term product performance.
Future manufacturing developments within the new facility will be shaped by the demands of the regional market, says Hussein Khalil, factory manager, and will deploy the newest technologies while continuously adapting production processes based on client recommendations and operational requirements.
"It is extremely important for us to be located close to the projects. Several R&D initiatives are currently ongoing to assess how labor-intensive production processes can be optimized andimproved. The outcomes of these studies will determine the next operational and technological steps."
According to Ersu, the company's approach to sustainability goes beyond environmental standards, linking long-term sustainability to product quality, operational reliability, and fair pricing strategies.
"We adapt environmental standards according to domestic regulations and international requirements.
"For us, sustainability also means building long-lasting relationships with clients through consistent quality, transparency, and trust. This creates continuous business opportunities and stronger partnerships over time."
Serving the Middle East
The facility addresses the company's need to establish closer relationships with clients in the region while strengthening local production capabilities.
By manufacturing, testing, delivering, and installing products in accordance with regional standards and market requirements, MAT expects to significantly enhance operational efficiency and increase production capacity by over 30%.
The company also confirmed its dedication to upholding all international quality and sustainability standards throughout all phases of production and operations.
As part of its long-term strategy, MAT intends to open two more factories by 2030, with one in China and one in the US. This supports the company's objective of exceeding USD 100 million in revenue while continuing to strengthen its position as an international technology-driven manufacturer.
At present, MAT operates numerous offices across the globe, with three facilities in Turkey for manufacturing, research and development, engineering, design, testing, quality control, and logistics operations.
The UAE facility significantly expands the company’s manufacturing capacity and operational infrastructure, enhancing production capabilities and improving regional accessibility for international projects.
Ongoing growth and investment
MAT currently exports to 56 countries, has completed more than 650 projects globally, and has produced more than 7,500 high-tech products.
With a team of over 700 employees worldwide, the company continues to offer Turkish engineering and technology to the international market through innovative and sustainable solutions for the water treatment and Life Support Systems sectors.
Since its founding in 2014 with a 3,000-square-metre facility, MAT has now become a global operation with over 30,000 square metres of production and processing space across numerous factories and facilities.
As the company continues to grow both operationally and commercially, it is particularly focused on strategic markets such as Saudi Arabia and Japan, where a number of significant projects are already in progress.
With ongoing investments in manufacturing, research, technology, and international operations, MAT strengthens its dedication to becoming a leading global company in advanced water technologies and Life Support Systems.
The new Middle East facility marks another key step in building regional partnerships, enhancing production efficiency, and bringing innovative solutions closer to clients globally.
Last November, MAT announced the opening of a new factory in Izmir’s Aegean Free Zone (ESBAŞ), Turkey.
