MSC Cruises has announced a major refurbishment of MSC Poesia as part of the cruise line's ongoing investment in enhancing the guest experience across its fleet.

The refurbishment of MSC Poesia has started as the cruise ship enters the dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Malta.

Upgrades to the ship include the addition of the MSC Yacht Club, and enhanced dining, wellness and fitness venues.

These include updates to two new speciality dining venues, Butcher's Cut and Kaito Sushi Bar, as well as a newly designed MSC Aurea Spa and MSC Gym.

Refurbishment work is expected to be completed in April, in time for MSC Poesia’s debut season in Alaska in May.

"This major refurbishment of MSC Poesia reflects our continued efforts and commitment to investing in our fleet and delivering exceptional guest experiences," said Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises.

"This refurbishment showcases MSC Cruises’ commitment to offering guests the best possible experience and modern amenities," he added.

Upgrades to MSC Poesia

"We are proud to bring the addition of the MSC Yacht Club, new dining concepts and more to MSC Poesia and to offer guests more choice and more comfort than ever before, ahead of the ship’s Alaska season."

MSC Poesia is the second ship from the cruise line's MSC Musica Class to undergo a major renovation at the shipyard in Malta, following sister ship MSC Magnifica, which returned to service in December.

The project is part of the most extensive upgrade and refitting programme by MSC Cruises in the past decade.

Earlier this month, MSC Cruises announced the expansion of its MSC Yacht Club concept to two additional ships, MSC Musica and MSC Orchestra.

This means that all four vessels in the Musica class will include the MSC Yacht Club.

In more news, MSC Cruises has ordered two new World Class ships worth €3.5 billion, due to be delivered in 2030 and 2031.

With the new World Class ships – numbers 7 and 8 – MSC Cruises will offer a total of eight World Class vessels.
