American Alliance of Museums opens early bird registration for AAM 2025

News
2025 AAM Annual Meeting and Museumexpo. Museums and Trust. May 6 - 9 2025, Los Angeles

The American Alliance of Museums (AAM) has announced that registration is now open for the AAM Annual Meeting & MuseumExpo 2025, with a special early bird rate available until 31 January 2025.

Taking place from 6 – 9 May at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California, the theme of AAM 2025 is Museums & Trust.

“Museums have long inspired high levels of public trust, surpassing news outlets, government organizations, researchers and scientists, corporations, and social media platforms,” says AAM. “This consistent finding underscores our institutions’ unique position in society as stewards of knowledge, culture, science, and history—areas where credibility and reliability are paramount.”

In a time characterised by scepticism and misleading information, museums possess a unique capability to challenge the spread of false narratives and polarised viewpoints.

“Using our trusted position, we can cultivate a healthier, empathetic, and informed society using our trusted position,” adds AAM. “But to do so, we must maintain our credibility proactively, embracing thoughtful, transparent, and collaborative practices that will defend against influences like bias, resource challenges, abuse of power, and social injustice.”

Speakers & sessions to be revealed

AAM 2025 programming will be divided into four tracks that explore the theme of Museums & Trust: Purpose, Practice, Process, and Programs.

As well as the educational sessions, attendees can discover the latest products and services on the trade show floor during MuseumExpo, which is once again co-located with the Museum Store Association, resulting in 350 exhibitors to explore.

There will also be hands-on workshops and learning labs that offer foundational and practical techniques that participants can apply to their own context and community. These sessions will focus on the “how-to” and provide tangible tools and outcomes to bring back home.

AAM also recently held the 2024 Future of Museums Summit. The virtual event explored how climate change, AI, the loneliness crisis, and culture wars might all significantly impact the future of the museum industry.
