Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced that progress on the second phase of the Heart of Sharjah development is on schedule.

The Heart of Sharjah project aims to recreate the look and feel of traditional Sharjah from the 1950s but with contemporary touches to create a vibrant tourist and trade destination.

The second phase of the project includes adding restaurants, cafes, public facilities, children’s play areas as well as upgrades to courtyards and squares that will serve and event venues.
A major element of this phase are the areas themed as natural environments – mountainous, rural Bedouin and marine – which will be used to showcase the traditional lifestyle of the UAE.

In a statement reported by Arabian Business, Yousif Al Mutawa, manager of Heart of Sharjah, said, “The development work on the second phase of the heritage project is in progress according to the set timetable.

“The development work on Heart of Sharjah is in full swing and once completed, it will have a major impact on strengthening the position of Sharjah and the UAE on the global tourism and heritage map. It will also contribute significantly to supporting national festivals and events related to the UAE’s important cultural heritage.”
