La Nube, a new children’s museum and science centre in El Paso, Texas, is opening to the public on 10 August.
Per a press release, La Nube is in the final phases of construction, with the team now installing the interactive exhibits and developing education programmes.
Ahead of the public launch, the new museum will hold several soft openings for staff recruitment and training in order to fine-tune the visitor experience.

La Nube, which means ‘the cloud’ in Spanish, is the first purpose-built children’s museum in El Paso. The name refers to the four-storey, cloud-shaped building.
Across 70,000 square feet, guests will enjoy immersive exhibits and hands-on learning experiences that focus on science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM).
Highlights at La Nube include the four-storey ‘Anything is Possible’ climber, and the ‘Flow’ indoor water experience.
Stephanie Otero, vice president of operations at the El Paso Community Foundation and interim director of La Nube, said: “El Paso will soon be home to the latest and greatest world-class children’s museum and science center.
Immersive exhibits and STEAM learning
“Our mission is not only to serve as a beacon for STEAM education but also to promote inclusion and accessibility for all.”
Via a report in the El Paso Times, La Nube is 95 percent completed. Its main feature, the climber, is around 70 percent completed.
“There is nothing that was bought off the shop,” Otero told the publication. “Every inch of this museum was designed for El Paso, unique to El Paso. But that also means the designers nor the fabricators had built this before.”
The prime exhibit contractor, kubik maltbie, fabricated and installed all exhibits, interactives, showcases, and graphics. The company was also responsible for building integration and production and installation of the impressive 5-story climbing structure.
