Moonraker VFX Ltd., the award-winning UK-based VFX studio, has been highlighted by the UK government as an industry-leading example of British innovation.
Moonraker is part of a selection of the UK’s most disruptive immersive media businesses which have been shortlisted to represent the isles at the world-famous SXSW festival and business conference in Austin, Texas, US. The specially selected businesses flew out to Austin yesterday for a special opportunity to foster international business relations and professional growth.
The development represents a proactive move by the UK government to showcase the innovation and potential of its immersive media industry to the lucrative US market, with a significant proportion of selected companies being pioneers in the realm of immersive content creation.
Generating millions
Previous SXSW trade missions have each generated between £11-15 million worth of work for businesses, giving an indication of SXSW’s value for generating investment in the UK’s creative sector.
Moonraker’s selection for the Trade Mission Cohort comes during a period of fast growth for the Bristol-based business, which has recently invested in the creation and production of its own licensable IP media for immersive, screen-based experiences.
The Emmy award-winning visual effects studio is one of nineteen companies that have been hand-selected to attend by the Department of International Trade, from thousands of applications received by the government body.
“Diversity of talent”
The English firm has built a reputation working with well-known brands including Apple, the BBC, Disney, National Geographic and Netflix. It is expected that Moonraker’s participation in SXSW will provide wide brand exposure across the North American market, fuelling its next stage of growth.
“Our invitation to attend SXSW is an incredibly exciting milestone for Moonraker and a great recognition for the industry as a whole,” says Moonraker VFX co-founder and Simon Clarke;
“As we move into an ever-more virtual world with more choice, we believe that Moonraker has a vital role to play in the creation of exciting visual media that engages and entertains audiences worldwide. We are proud to be representing the diversity of creative talent across the UK here, alongside several other businesses all at the cutting-edge of the UK creative industry.”
Clarke recently explored for blooloop how flying theatres are helping to take immersion to the next level, using a variety of sensory effects.
