Mousetrappe partners with THG Creative & The National WWII Museum to create cinematic experience

News
Mousetrappe project for The National WWII Museum

Mousetrappe Media, an award-winning media design and production company, has again partnered with THG Creative and The National WWII Museum in New Orleans, US. Together, the organisations have developed the Priddy Family Foundation Freedom Theater, a ground-breaking new ticketed attraction.

This multimedia experience, housed within the museum’s brand-new Liberation Pavilion, opened in late 2023. It transports visitors to the turbulent 1930s and 1940s, when freedom itself was in danger of extinction.

By examining the extraordinary efforts to preserve and promote freedom during and after World War II, the show emphasises the ongoing responsibility of each generation to defend democracy, protect freedom, and advance human rights.

Evoking history through advanced technology

In this project, Mousetrappe utilised the theatre’s advanced design and technology to create a memorable and emotionally impactful cinematic experience.

Theatrical sets use mapped projections that seamlessly transition through historical eras, while a variety of monitors, some mounted on moving trusses, and a panoramic LED screen provide a multi-dimensional viewing experience. In addition, a rotating audience platform immerses visitors in the story as it unfolds around them.

The various media platforms required Mousetrappe to create almost two hours of content for the experience, which lasts 23 minutes including the preshow.

The complex production demanded 29 synchronised media streams to bring the show to life. Careful planning and coordination ensured that all of these elements were perfectly aligned.

Phil Hettema, founder and CEO of THG Creative says: “The result is a visually stunning and emotionally powerful experience that resonates deeply with audiences. Mousetrappe was the perfect partner to execute the vision.”

Emotional connections

Presenting decades of national and global history in a way that connects with the audience while capturing their attention was a major creative objective.

In response, talented actors were cast to voice over 35 roles, reflecting the thoughts, worries, ambitions, dreams, and sacrifices of previous generations. This human element makes the stories of past generations relatable and poignant. Mousetrappe also composed an orchestral score that accentuates the emotional depth of the storyline, and the visual design captivates and immerses audiences.

Daren Ulmer, founder and chief creative officer of Mousetrappe, explains: “The visual design is critically important to draw the audience into the story. The use of mapped projection, monitors, and the panoramic LED screen creates a visually rich environment that captures the imagination, and the rotating audience platform adds a dynamic element, ensuring that viewers are constantly engaged and immersed in the story.”

Mousetrappe Media is renowned for producing memorable cinematic experiences for live events, exhibits, immersive films, spectaculars, and shows at some of the best-loved attractions around the globe.

This collaboration between Mousetrappe Media, The National WWII Museum, and THG Creative provides visitors with an informative and emotional experience. By combining innovative technology and compelling narrative, the Freedom Theater brings history to life and honours the resilience of the human spirit and the value of freedom.

Last year, Medici XD announced the appointment of Tony Miceli as president of Mousetrappe Media, a part of the Medici XD family.
