At this venue, the touring exhibition features an original section of the Berlin Wall

Musealia, a global leader in the creation of touring exhibitions, has launched its exhibition, The Berlin Wall. A World Divided, at the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine in Trocadéro, Paris, following a successful premiere in Madrid.

The opening on 14 May marks Musealia’s first time presenting in Paris, and the first location on the exhibition’s international tour.

Here, the exhibition features an original section of the Berlin Wall, which has been installed to face the Place du Trocadéro and brings a potent symbol of the Cold War to the city centre.

Unprecedented collaboration

The Berlin Wall. A World Divided has been created by Musealia in partnership with the Berlin Wall Foundation and provides a powerful, detailed exploration of the Wall’s history and legacy.

The exhibition draws together the expertise and memory of more than 20 institutions and 40 lenders, including the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and the Allied Museum, in an unprecedented collaboration which reveals new insights into the Cold War era.

With over 200 authentic objects, such as the barbed wire used on the night of 13 August 1961, and first-hand accounts, the exhibition explores the deeply human stories behind the political division. This highly relevant topic helps contextualise current sociocultural and political events and serves as an educational tool for both individual visitors and school groups.

Prof. Dr. Axel Klausmeier, director of the Berlin Wall Foundation, says: “We hope that The Berlin Wall. A World Divided will help remind us of what happened not so long ago in Europe, and raise awareness about the power of the people. It was their courage that led to the peaceful revolution of 1989 — a revolution that changed the world.”

The Berlin Wall. A World Divided is showing at the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine until 28 September.
