Sarner International celebrates opening of Wetterextreme immersive experience

News

Sarner International, a leading experiential design expert, is celebrating the opening of the new multisensory Wetterextreme immersive experience at Klimahaus Bremerhaven, Germany, which takes guests on an engaging journey through extreme weather phenomena.

Klimahaus Bremerhaven is a unique museum that immerses visitors in weather, climate, and climate change. It transcends traditional museum experiences, serving as a hub of knowledge that integrates education and entertainment.

Extreme weather events such as heat waves, floods, storms, and heavy rainfall are becoming more common globally, compelling us to confront climate change directly. The immersive, multisensory Wetterextreme experience aims to inform visitors about how weather extremes form, their increasing frequency due to global warming, and the most effective ways to adapt to them.

A multisensory edutainment experience

In partnership with long-standing collaborator Moonraker VFX, a visual effects content production studio, Sarner was brought in to help bring to life the initial concepts, which were developed by creative agency studio klv.

A key feature of the experience is a ride platform that transports visitors through an immersive flight across different extreme weather situations on three floors of the museum. Up to 40 guests can enjoy the eight-meter ‘Uplift,’ which envelops them in 360-degree multisensory environments showcasing scenarios of extreme heat, drought, wildfires, heavy rain, flooding, cyclones, and more.

The ride experience explores the captivating extremes of weather, while the larger exhibition examines their effects and our responses. As guests journey through different regions, they connect with people from diverse cultures who recount how climate influences their everyday lives. These personal interactions provide visitors with valuable insights into how climate affects communities worldwide.

Every phase of the journey offers a sensory experience. By seamlessly combining stage design, film, kinetics, sound, and special effects – such as water screens, hail, mist, lasers, and smoke – the experience thoroughly immerses visitors in a multisensory exploration of various weather extremes. A crucial element of the project is the detailed synchronisation of media content with the ride’s dynamic movements, providing a genuinely captivating and immersive experience..

A journey of discovery

Central to the experience is a bold vision that immerses visitors in the forces of nature, sparks curiosity, and fosters a commitment to environmental conservation and climate action. Every interaction with the natural world is thrilling and thought-provoking, encouraging visitors to contemplate their part in the changes affecting our planet’s climate.

The experience transcends boundaries, welcoming individuals of all ages to embark on a journey of discovery and enlightenment.
