Smithsonian Hall of Presidents Gets $3m Renovation

News

The Smithsonian’s Hall of Presidents is to get a $3 million update.

The current gallery will close at the end of February with a temporary exhibition of portraits moving to the West Gallery.

The exhibition will reopen in September as part of an America’s Presidents permanent installation.

The refurbishment will include carpeting, lighting and technology to increase visitors’ engagement with the portraits’ subjects and the historical context.
