SSA Group, a best-in-class provider of integrated guest services, has teamed up with the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) in Columbus in order to promote the new TUTANKHAMUN – HIS TOMB AND HIS TREASURES exhibit to media outlets.
COSI, which was recently voted the number one science museum in the US by readers of USA Today’s 10Best, is an SSA food and retail partner, and the attraction recently partnered with SSA’s digital team in order to develop an AR experience, giving viewers a sneak peek into King Tutankhamun’s tomb through their mobile device and inviting them to the media event for the exhibit.
New exhibit explores Tutankhamun and his treasures
The new exhibit is produced by Semmel Exhibitions, the international exhibition design specialist, and opened on 18 March 2023. Visitors will be able to experience the burial chambers and treasures of the boy Pharaoh exactly as they were discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter, for once-in-a-lifetime insight into the archaeology of ancient Egypt.
COSI was provided the opportunity to be the only science centre in the US to showcase the exhibition during the 100-year celebration of Dr Carter’s discovery in 1922. As well as seeing the artefacts up close, guests can also enjoy an audio tour.
Tutankhamun, son of King Akhenaten, came to power at the age of 9 in 1332 BC. Even today, his demise remains a mystery. After nine years in power, Tutankhamun passed away, most likely from an infection brought on by an open knee injury.
COSI’s Tutankhamun exhibition is home to over 1,000 high-definition replicas by Egyptian artists.
SSA Group, recently launched its Representation Matters retail collection at locations across the US. This new collection includes items that have been supplied by underrepresented populations, including Black-owned and disabled-owned businesses, Asian communities, Veterans, Women, LGBTQ communities and more.
Semmel Exhibitions also recently unveiled Disney100: The Exhibition, created for the 100-year celebration of The Walt Disney Company. An exclusive collaboration with the Walt Disney Archives, it made its world debut at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia last month.
