Technically Creative, the immersive experience expert, has announced a new project, working with Eden Camp in Yorkshire, UK. The firm has been chosen to create a brand-new display that showcases a unique piece of history – the Human Tornado.

Eden Camp is an award-winning attraction, based in an old World War II prisoner-of-war camp. The Eden Camp team is aiming to boost the museum’s direction into the future by moving towards a new model, incorporating technology and immersive effects into its exhibits in order to engage the next generation with stories from the past.

The popular museum is well-known for its use of genuine artefacts from the wartime period. These have predominantly been procured from or donated by members of the public from all over the world, and this feature will be continuing when developing new displays.

Bringing an epic story to life

Speaking about the project, Technically Creative says:

“Quite possibly one of the riskiest inventions seen during the war, this rare collection of machinery saw new technology and new tactics meet in an attempt to change the story of war. This is exactly what we will do, with the help of the Archive team from Eden Camp, we will recreate this dangerous story, immersing the sense in a mixture of animation, AI and special effects.

“Our ‘Experience Design Team’ have created a concept encompassing the Human Torpedo’s sense of danger and boldness, using layering techniques with lighting, audio, projection mapping, animation, graphics, special effects, as well as models, props and thematic scenery setworks. TC are excited to continue the fantastic working relationship with the award-winning museum.”

This is not the first time that the York-based company has worked with Eden Camp. Last year, the team was also engaged to reimagine and redesign the museum’s Blitz Experience, again bringing in new technologies to enhance the attraction’s visual storytelling.
