Tiqets Sofar Sounds concert

Tiqets, a leading booking partner for museums and attractions, has announced a new partnership with Sofar Sounds, a community that stages intimate concerts in unexpected venues across the globe. Together, they will be creating live music shows at attractions in San Francisco and London. In addition, Tiqets will be offering the chance to win a trip to visit one of the cities, alongside tickets for the concert series.

In San Fransico, the concerts will be taking place at Aquarium of the Bay, Record Factory, and Red & White Fleet’s San Francisco Bay Cruise, while in London, they will be held at Westminster Abbey, Old Royal Naval College, and London Transport Museum.

“We’re thrilled to be joining forces with Sofar Sounds to combine our incredible venue partners with live musicians to host not one, but two, summer concert series in San Francisco and London,” says Laurens Leurink, Tiqets CEO.

“With these truly once-in-a-lifetime shows featuring exciting new artists in iconic locations like Westminster Abbey and the Aquarium of the Bay, we hope to inspire people all over the world to find more ways to culture this summer.”

“With this partnership, Tiqets and Sofar Sounds work toward a common goal of creating unique ways to bring artists and audiences together all around the world,” adds Jim Lucchese, Sofar Sounds CEO. “We look forward to collaborating on some amazing shows this summer while supporting independent artists with opportunities to perform in some truly unique spaces.”

Transforming San Fransico attractions

In San Francisco, the concerts will take place over three nights in June, transforming the three popular attractions into concert venues for the first time.

On 17 June, guests can enjoy three surprise artists in the unexpected setting of the Aquarium of the Bay, home to 24,000 animals, including sharks, bat rays, and river otters. Then on 18 June, the concert series will move to the Red & White Fleet’s Enhydra, the United States’ first-ever plug-in hybrid electric vessel, which will sail under the Golden Gate Bridge for sunset views of the city and the bay.

“We’re talking about a chance to see amazing new music onboard a cutting-edge hybrid electric vessel sailing in the middle of San Francisco Bay. What’s not to like? We’re excited to partner with Tiqets and Sofar to make it happen,” says Tyler Foster, managing director and partner, Red and White San Francisco Bay Cruises.

Finally, on 25 June a unique concert featuring up-and-coming artists selected by Sofar Sounds will be held at the Record Factory in Sausalito, the same studios that Bob Marley and Stevie Nicks have played in.

“We are proud to be part of the Sofar Sounds x Tiqets Concert series and family at Bridgeway Recording Studios (the former Record Plant Studios),” says Frank Pollifrone, Record Factory. “Bridgeway Studios has a long history of making music history. From Prince’s first album, For You, to Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, Bridgeway prides itself in working with cutting-edge artists and relationships. We look forward to continuing a blossoming relationship.”

Concert series heads to London

In July, the concerts will head to three exciting venues in London, and the dates for these events will be released later this month. Guests will be able to enjoy live music at the historic Westminster Abbey, the site of many royal weddings, the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich with its stunning architecture, and the popular London Transport Museum.

“We are delighted to be welcoming Sofar Sounds into the Abbey for the first time, as part of our own summer festival,” says Lorraine Rossdale, Westminster Abbey’s head of events & marketing. “This collaboration opens the doors to a brand new and exciting audience.”

London Transport Museum

“I am delighted that London Transport Museum was picked as one of the chosen locations for the forthcoming Tiqets x Sofar Summer Concert Series in London,” adds Harriet Burke, London Transport Museum’s head of marketing.

“This collaboration will be a brilliant opportunity for us to showcase what a fantastic venue the Museum is to host an intimate music event like this and to watch a concert against the backdrop of our wonderful collection will truly make this a once-in-a-lifetime experience for ticket holders.”

Tiqets is also hosting a competition, where entrants could win a trip to either London or San Francisco to attend one of the concerts. Tickets for all six events will be bookable online through the Sofar Sounds website.

Tiqets also recently announced a new integration with Apple Maps, making it easier for guests to book tickets on mobile and tablet devices.
