Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled its largest ship to date, the Norwegian Aura, launching in 2027.

Norwegian Aura is the longest and largest vessel in the cruise line's fleet, and will homeport in Miami in June 2027 after its debut in Europe in late May 2027.

Setting a new standard in size and scale for the cruise company's fleet, Norwegian Aura will be almost 1,130 feet long, 169,000 gross tonnes, and will accommodate 3,840 guests at double occupancy.

Norwegian Aura will be 10 percent larger than its sister ships Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna. The former launched last year, and the latter starts sailing this March.

Harry Sommer, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line, said the new ship "represents the evolution of Norwegian Cruise Line".

"With brilliance and connection at her core, the ship was created to give all guests the freedom to vacation their very own way – offering the chance to exhale, connect and effortlessly escape into the moment," he added.

Fleet's first Ocean Heights attraction

In addition to being the largest ship in the fleet, Norwegian Aura will house the fleet's first Ocean Heights activities complex, and boasts more slides than any other Norwegian Cruise Line ship.

These include Eclipse Racers, the company's first duelling mat racer waterslides, as well as the Aura Free Fall slide, The Wave pendulum-style raft ride, and the Drop dry slide.

Ocean Heights will also feature an 82-foot ropes course, a 25-foot rock climbing wall, and an amusement park-style area called Aura Midway.

Highlights on the new cruise ship also include play areas for various ages, and an aqua park for children with a splash pad, interactive water features and family waterslides.

Norwegian Aura is currently being built by renowned Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri.

Last year, Norwegian Cruise Line announced the new six-acre Great Tides Waterpark for its Great Stirrup Cay expansion in the Bahamas.
