ARCO/Murray celebrates success of Puttshack in new Innovative Locations webinar

New webinar series explores trends and successes in location-based entertainment

ARCO/Murray, a leading design-builder specializing in national rollouts across a wide spectrum of industries, is exploring recent trends alongside a range of successful case studies in its new Innovative Locations webinar series, beginning with a look at the interactive minigolf attraction Puttshack, which is expanding to the US this year.

ARCO/Murray is the general contractor for Puttshack, as well as Topgolf, iFly and many other popular brands in location-based entertainment.

In this Innovative Locations webinar, Eden Ames from AROC/Murray spoke to Puttshack’s CEO and industry veteran Joe Vrankin about the future of entertainment and what it takes to create successful concepts in ARCO’s new Innovative Locations webinar series.

Puttshack’s technology-based game allows the operator to change its concept to fit key demographics. The means it can cater to a wide range of different visitors, from 21-39-year olds looking for a fun night out to families coming for a non-competitive leisure experience.

The company’s first location opened in West London in 2018 and following its UK success, the brand plans to open at least two locations in the US this year. One will be in downtown Atlanta’s West Midtown neighbourhood and the other in the Chicago suburbs of Oakbrook. Miami is also next on the horizon.

During the insightful interview, Vrankin shared some key lessons learned from his 20+ years in location-based entertainment. One point that he emphasised, in particular, is that a concept must develop staying power by developing a “triple threat” of an engaging game, a great food and drink offering and outstanding customer service.

The future of entertainment

Ames and Vrankin also touch on the impacts of COVID-19 on the industry. On this topic, Vrankin is bullish on the future of entertainment after the pandemic, drawing comparisons to the 1918 pandemic which was shortly followed by the roaring 20s.

“We’re very fortunate to work with exciting, growing brands like Puttshack,” says a statement from ARCO/Murray. “We hope that the Innovative Locations series will bring together like-minded businesses who are looking to collaborate, or at the very least, inspire up-and-coming entrepreneurs in this space.”

Over the course of ARCO/Murray’s Innovative Locations webinar series, the company will host a range of its most innovative clients and partners, inviting them to tell their success stories of growth, share insights on how their concepts developed and how they weather the unique challenges of this changing industry.
