Attraktion!, a leading manufacturer of media-based attractions, is sharing details of two new projects at IAAPA Expo Europe 2023. Both Playneo game Pigvasion, and immersive family museum Immersium will be showcased at the firm’s booth, B-918.
IAAPA Expo Europe 2023 is running until 28 September, in Vienna, Austria.
Introducing Pigvasion
Delegates at IAAPA Expo Europe 2023 can be among the first to play the new Pigvasion game in full at the Attraktion! booth, B-918. This new release is the first free-roaming gaming experience for groups to be based on the Angry Birds films.
Attraktion! developed the title for its Playneo game system. Pigvasion is a collaboration with Angry Birds developer Rovio Entertainment Corporation, through a transaction mediated by Angry Birds’ global licencing agency IMG.
In this game, players go on a mission to assist Red (the leader of the Angry Birds) in rescuing stolen eggs from nefarious pigs. Pigvasion is inspired by the visually spectacular Angry Birds films, and delivers immersive, fast-paced gameplay that surpasses the traditional mobile gaming experience scaled up for entertainment venues.
Playneo uses immersive 270° projections instead of VR headsets to create spaces that facilitate group interaction for 4 – 16 players. The system is adaptable to a range of locations, with three configuration options – box, trapeze, and 360 layout. It encourages free movement around the space and interactivity as special glasses are not required. As the system requires no consumables, it does not require an operator.
Attraktion!’s proprietary and patented Active Shield, is a handheld interactive gadget that players take with them to activate events on the immersive, digital canvas. Players can move freely around the virtual space, working collaboratively or competitively to score points and win the game. As every experience is unique, the system encourages repeat visits.
Katri Chacona, head of brand licensing at Rovio comments: “We are thrilled to launch a new action packed game with Attraktion! which allows fans to step into the environments from the popular Angry Birds movie. It has been a fantastic collaboration with focus on properly representing the brand, perfecting the finest details and elements to deliver a high quality and one-of-a-kind experience.”
Markus Beyr, CEO of Attraktion!, adds: “The Angry Birds IP is perfect for the Playneo experience, with the high-octane game from Rovio brought to life for groups to experience together.
“The Playneo interactive gaming universes are taking out-of-home group gaming to the next level through shared immersive experiences, rather than VR headsets. This enhanced connection is what creates memorable engagements for guests and encourages them to keep coming back to beat their previous scores and unlock the next part of the thrilling adventure.”
Immersium opens in Vienna
Attraktion! is also offering delegates at IAAPA Expo Europe an exclusive preview of the Immersium immersive family museum and experience, which is set to open on 12 October.
This is the first attraction of its kind in Austria, and is being delivered by the firm’s daughter company Attraktion! Projects GmbH.
This innovative experience is built around a flexible and evolving idea to enable future proofing and encourage return visits from the local audience.
Immersium’s debut IP is JURASSIC – The Immersive Experience, in which visitors have the opportunity to interact with dinosaurs in their natural habitat. Interactivity, immersive media, and motion-based experiences bring the story to life. The 15-minute immersive exhibit Jurassic – The Gathering is the centrepiece of the experience and features a 360° projection and interactive floor.
Attraktion! designed and delivered the complete walkthrough experience, including content production, software development for interactive features, and installation. This comprises 11 zones, each of which uses a distinct type of immersive participation to further the narrative and adventure.
Rovio Entertainment Corporation joined forces with Attraktion! and announced plans to bring the Angry Birds franchise to the multiplayer platform Playneo earlier this year.
