Green 4 Solutions, provider of CRM, admissions, food & beverage, retail, membership and marketing solutions, has worked with the Hollywood Bowl Group to support its new Puttstars mini golf centres.

Green 4 Solutions is pleased to announce that has extended its booking software to support golf products as well as developing a new scoring application for the Puttstars mini golf attractions. The company has worked with the Hollywood Bowl Group for ten years and is proud to be supporting them in this new venture.

The first of the new Puttstars mini golf centres opened in Leeds on 6 March, just before attractions in the UK were forced to close temporarily due to the coronavirus pandemic. Two more centres are preparing to open, in Rochdale and York.

A modern twist on a traditional game

“It’s been a hugely exciting journey for the whole Hollywood Bowl team,” says Stephen Burns, Chief Executive, Hollywood Bowl Group.

“People have been putting balls through windmills for as long as they have been picking up bowling balls and throwing them at ten pins, and we thought there was an opportunity for us to put a more modern twist on what has been a fully enjoyed family pastime.”

Green 4 has developed a solution to replace the traditional pencil and paper scoring system, bringing the family game up to date. The course has a tablet device at each hole, recording scores and converting them into points based on the number of shots taken, as well as using ‘jokers’ to give players a chance to double their points.

Gamification

This gamification approach adds fun and excitement to the mini golf experience and makes scoring simple. In addition to this, the operator also benefits as the system collects personal details of everyone who plays, not just the lead booker, meaning that Puttstars is able to communicate directly with all guests in future.

This means that the Hollywood Bowl Group is able to continue with its successful targeted approach with regards to CRM, therefore encouraging repeat visits and increasing average spend through personalised offers using customer data.

“We have a strong relationship with Green 4 for our bowling reservation systems and we turned to them to provide a reservation system for our mini golf business – Puttstars,” says Dave Wilson, IT Director, Hollywood Bowl Group.

“Green 4’s development methodologies and strong project management enabled both parties to have confidence in the final solutions and a successful first launch. More mini golf centres are planned and the solutions will be implemented in these new centres.”

Social distancing

As UK attractions prepare to reopen from 4 July, Green 4 has also worked closely with both the new Puttstars and Hollywood Bowl venues, bringing in new features to help them adhere to social distancing guidelines. Guests will book online for a scheduled time slot to keep a cap on visitor numbers, while the bowling centres will only open every other lane to keep groups apart.

In addition to this, the frequency of tee-off times for Puttstars will be reduced, and online food and drink orders will be encouraged at both attractions.

Established in 2006, Green 4 Solutions works with visitor attractions, FECs, cultural attractions and museums, and zoos and aquariums.
