Construction has begun at a new iFLY franchise venue in Wilmington, North Carolina

iFLY, a world leader in indoor skydiving tunnels, has shared that construction has begun at a new iFLY venue in Wilmington, North Carolina.

iFLY Wilmington is the most recent addition to the firm’s acclaimed brand, which offers indoor skydiving experiences for thrill seekers and families. The firm is committed to “making the dream of flight a reality for everyone”. It created the global market for indoor skydiving, is the leader in vertical wind tunnel technology, and offers world-class instruction that is accessible to all.

Sharing a love of flight

A groundbreaking ceremony took place on 27 February to mark the start of the construction works for the new facility.

The Wilmington franchise is run by Patrick Maguire, a Marine Corps Special Operations Command veteran, and George Jamison, a US Air Force veteran, and will combine their love of flight with iFLY’s innovative technology. The venue promises to transform adventure sports in the area.

Maguire says: “We are thrilled to bring iFLY’s immersive and safe indoor skydiving experience to Wilmington. As a veteran-owned business, we are deeply committed to serving our community and providing an unforgettable adventure for our patrons.”

Ben Philpott, director of global development, iFLY, comments: “After the successful recent opening of company-owned iFLY Queens (New York) and iFLY Edison (New Jersey) in the USA and the completion of the iFLY Doha franchise facility in Qatar, iFLY continues to lead the global market in the expansion of indoor skydiving.”

“The groundbreaking ceremony for the new iFLY Wilmington franchise facility marked the first of several projects globally that are planning to start construction this year. We are the only company operating at scale globally, flying millions of people a year in our tunnels, and continuing to offer potential owners new opportunities to add our best-in-class wind tunnels and facilities to their communities.”

“We are looking forward to continuing to make the dream of flight accessible to a rapidly increasing number of people worldwide.”

With a focus on safety, accessibility, and innovation, iFLY Wilmington is set to become a leading destination for adventurers of all ages. The groundbreaking ceremony celebrates the launch of the project, which will bring the joy of flight to the centre of the Cape Fear region.

Last year, iFLY shared details of its ongoing global expansion with projects in Indonesia, London and Las Vegas. This year, Wilmington and Miami are among the new locations expected to join the fleet.
