Merlin Entertainments has announced the opening date of its new Lego Discovery Center in Washington, DC.
The 32,000-square-foot play attraction, located in Virginia’s Springfield Town Center in the Washington metropolitan area, will soft launch on 10 August before officially opening to the public on 14 August.
Formerly called Legoland Discovery Centers, these next-generation Lego Discovery Centers feature a new look and design, offering interactive indoor Lego-themed play experiences, activities and workshops.

“We are truly bringing Lego experiences to life at our new center. Children will be able to let their imagination and creativity run wild in each of our unique and immersive zones,” said general manager Therese Alvich.
The Lego Discovery Center in DC houses various zones, including Duplo Park, where young guests can learn and play, build with Duplo and watch ducklings in the Duplo duck pond.
The Building Adventure area is dedicated to playing and creating with Lego bricks, while Mini World is a space to explore Lego builds made from more than 1.5 million bricks.

Imagination Express is a train ride through an oversized Lego world with Lego models, and visitors can build a custom Lego Minifigure in another area.
In the Creative Club, there will be daily building activities, from making mosaics to portrait painting with Lego, while the Lego Tree of Imagination is a building zone with a tree made entirely from Lego.
At Space Mission, guests can build a Lego spaceship and launch it into space. The Hero Zone includes a Lego laser maze, climbing wall and action game. The attraction also offers a café, 4D cinema and a workshop for Master Model Builders.

Merlin’s first Lego Discovery Center opened in July 2022 in Brussels. The first Lego Discovery Center in North America launched in Atlanta earlier this year. There are currently 27 Legoland Discovery Centers across the globe.
