Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), the largest AV and systems integration show in the world, has announced details of the ISE Conference Programme for 2023.
For the upcoming event, CEDIA is presenting the Smart Home Technology conference, and AVIXA is organising the other conferences and inaugural Tech Talks, to deliver deep industry information backed by worldwide organisations that analyse trends regularly. Furthermore, for an improved attendee experience, the conferences will be held in a new location: the modern, purpose-built conference rooms on the upper level of the Fira Gran Via.
The four-day event schedule, sponsored by Lang as a Technology Partner and Shure as an Audio Partner, begins with:
Smart Building Conference
The Smart Building Conference, sponsored by KNX, runs from 10:30 am to 5:15 pm at CC4.1 and is themed “The Best Smart Tech is Yet to Come.” It will look at issues such as lower energy costs, healthier buildings, greater control and automation, and better work environments. It will also investigate the roles of IT and OT as Big Data, AI, and digital twin technology transform the building network landscape.
Confirmed speakers include John Brough, Delta; Dan Drogman, Smart Spaces; Matthew Marson, JLL and consultant Erik Ubels. Conference chair Bob Snyder says: “I cannot imagine a better way to get an overview of the built environment, which is changing rapidly and getting even smarter. Additionally, SBC gives an opportunity to see which parts of smart building might be interesting to add to your business – and gives you access to other integrators who have figured out their roles.”
Smart Home Technology Conference
The Smart Home Technology Conference, formerly known as CEDIA’s Professional Development Programme, will take place in CC1 from Tuesday to Friday and will feature more than 65 hours of programming from CEDIA. This conference includes a wide spectrum of business trends such as wellness, hospitality, and supported living, as well as trendy themes such as gaming, artificial intelligence, and slow technology.
Delegates can buy sessions a la carte or purchase a CEDIA Pass, which gives them access to the complete programme, which is designed to allow them to choose sessions throughout the week.
The conference will push integrators to creatively incorporate tomorrow’s demands into today’s enterprises. A four-part deep dive into designing, implementing, and managing bass in private entertainment spaces, as well as a half-day RP22 Audio and Room Design Recommended Practice Workshop focusing on objective levels of performance that will define the immersive experience, are among the technical sessions.
Explore sessions that will help you improve your networking abilities, modern home architecture and cabling, timing-aware networks, WiFi 6, and Power Over Ethernet. Business workshops will guarantee that you have the necessary attitude and practices in place to ensure the success of your company. You will use techniques to maintain your firm effective and profitable, from overcoming recruitment issues and managing subcontractors to developing a break-even study.
Digital Signage Summit
Digital Signage Summit ISE, co-produced by invidis and Integrated Systems Events, kicks off on Wednesday 1 February in CC5.1.
This informative C-Level conference will feature digital signage experts, thought leaders, and major technology and service suppliers as they take a deep dive into hot themes such as the role of digital signage in omnichannel retail, green signs, and what’s next for the sector.
Conference Chair and Managing Director of invidis consulting, Florian Rotberg, says: “DSS ISE offers a great overview of the latest trends and inspires how to unleash the power of pixels for integrators as well as for end users. It will be a half-day well spent, with exclusive insights into how to bring the technology showcased at ISE to maximum use.”
Control Rooms Summit
Control Rooms Summit, also taking place on the morning of 1 February and sponsored by Guntermann and Drunck in CC5.3, will look into the vast issue of data. Expert speakers from academia, the supplier, and the user groups will provide case studies and presentations on how to make the best use of rising data streams to make key decisions promptly.
Conference chair Chris Dreyfus-Gibson says: “We are coming to a point where the incremental increase around data that comes into control rooms means that we are dealing with a mass of data in a way that we have not had to do before.
“The conversation I want to have at the summit is to say, ‘look, we know we have all this data, what are we doing about it? How are we transforming that data really quickly?’”
CRS will also seek to answer key industry questions such as how to best use AI and machine learning to drive useful insight to support critical decision-making; how to get the right information to the right people when they need it; how to visualise this vast amount of data in a way that does not overwhelm control room staff; and what impact this changing relationship with data will have on the role, skills, and training of control room operators.
After the talks, attendees of both the Control Rooms Summit and the Digital Signage Summit can enjoy a joint networking lunch.
Education Technology Summit
The Education Technology Summit will be held in room CC5.3 on the afternoon of February 1st. The topic for this year is “Connected, Compassionate, and Creative: Edtech for a Changing World.” The summit will inspire guests to look both ahead and within, presenting cutting-edge innovations and contemplative talks on human-digital technology interaction.
One highlight will be Jo-An Kamp, a keynote speaker from Fontys University, who will challenge the audience to consider the assumptions and influences that go into the design of the digital tools we use for learning and the uses we make of data to personalise experiences.
These insights will provide attendees with a useful compass as they join a variety of other peers in exploring what the metaverse might entail for learning.
Sustainability, mental health and well-being, will also be covered in the session.

Smart Workplace Summit
On Thursday 2 February, the Smart Workplace Summit, sponsored by Shure, will explore New Priorities for the Workplace in CC5.1, presenting the latest technology and thinking on smart workplace initiatives. The event will also bring together thought leaders and product creators to help enterprises, integrators, and vendors get through pandemic-related uncertainty and outline specific courses of action.
Speakers will include Sonal Bisht, head of global markets strategy – corporate affairs, HP; Ken Dooley, head of smart office, Haltian; John Marshall, president and CEO, Userful; and Lee Styles, partner at Kromers.
Attendees will also be able to hear in person from high-level executives from Alphabet, Zoom, Microsoft and others.
“If the workplace and smart office is your bailiwick, then spending a few hours with us at ISE 2023 will help you with the focus you’ll need to succeed,” says conference chair Bob Snyder. “We work really hard in this AV industry and sometimes we forget to take a step back and look at the wider picture – to open ourselves up to new ideas and new thought leaders.”
Live Events Summit
The theme of this year’s Live Events Summit, which takes place on the afternoon of February 2nd at CC5.3, is The Inner Workings of the Live Events Market. The summit will also address the sector’s problems and prospects, with insights from individuals engaged in some of 2022’s greatest tours and live events, as well as an in-depth look at the latest technical developments set to feature on global stages in the coming years.
Sessions include a look behind the scenes of a major world tour, interviews with people involved, and an analysis of how music venues will change in the coming years, as well as the latest advancements now altering the live touring landscape.
Conference chair Stew Hume says: “The summit will be a forum to explore some of the changes we are likely to see in the live market in the coming few years and what the tours of tomorrow may look like.
“It will look at some of the latest technological trends and hear from a number of thought leaders who are working at the coal face of the live events sector to make live events even more spectacular year after year.”
Content Production & Distribution Summit
The Content Production & Distribution Summit, which will take place on Tuesday 31 January is another new summit for 2023. End-users and vendors are increasingly striving to develop and disseminate high-quality video content for commercial and informational purposes, making content production and distribution technologies more relevant for the professional AV market.
This summit will look at the methods and technologies that go into creating, managing, and distributing video material, as well as how the power of a story may be unleashed on the globe through the use of simple technology.
Ciarán Doran, a consultant and senior executive with vast experience in broadcast, content development, and AV technologies, will chair the summit.

Tech Talks
Aside from the main conference programme, AVIXA will host a new series of Tech Talks in room CC4.1 on all four days of the event. These free workshops are intended to provide visitors with the opportunity to learn about technological advancements and commercial trends, and they are available in both English and Spanish.
Tech Talks will be delivered by cutting-edge professionals, who will provide new ideas, share best-practice case studies, and provide a glimpse of the future at ISE 2023.

The Metaverse and how firms are incorporating it into their business plans will be covered in English-language workshops, as will how video games are being leveraged to cure and rehabilitate patients, alongside the newest innovative physical presence displays and immersive experiences.
A series of seminars will also explore the issues posed by the ever-changing business environment, sharing solutions that look at new revenue sources ranging from how firms may manage, service, and commercialise their connected devices to how AV is changing to match today’s IT needs.
Speakers from a variety of Catalonia-based and other Spanish organisations and partners will participate in Spanish-language Tech Talks Espaol sessions.
On Tuesday 31 January, The Cluster AV of Catalunya will present a session titled ‘Stagecraft: The New Revolution on Virtual Sets,’ including network members David Jorba, Alex Thomas, and Toni Mena. A seminar on IT + AV – Optimising Solutions and Results will also be held.
The following day, the blockchain and NFTs will be discussed in “Blockchain and NFTs in the AV Industry as You Have Never Heard Before”, while digital signage specialist Rafael Negro will offer a keynote on revolutionising the themed restaurant on Thursday 2 February.

Every day of the show, the CEDIA Smart Home Technology Stage, located in the Residential & Smart Building Zone (Hall 2), will present free-to-attend programmes.
